In the cartoon, the Egyptian God Cards were created by Maximillion Pegasus and were modeled after images found on a stone tablet that was believed to hold the memories of the nameless Pharaoh. In the Yugioh trading card game, the cards are extremely powerful and consist of three individual God Cards: Obelisk the Tormentor, Slifer the Sky Dragon, and The Winged Dragon of Ra.

The cartoon showed the cards being used to unlock the Pharoah's memories and serve as the target possession of Marik, who seeks to use them in taking over the Pharoah's power. Then the cards are used in an attempt to revive a ten thousand year old beast, The Great Leviathan, to be used for destroying the world. Finally, the cards are seen being used to allow the Pharoah to enter a world of his memories where he fights an enemy from the past, and ultimately merge all the god cards into one powerful monster: The Creator of Light - Horakhty
All in all, the Egyptian God Cards hold a huge amount of power for any player that places them into their deck.
